Highlights

Gorgeous array of modern and post-modern couture in all its sartorial elegance

Chasing the trends of West European fashion

Opened by the lingerie giant Wacoal, KCI Gallery (Kyoto Costume Institute) operates as a fashion research foundation that not only displays garments but also works to collect, preserve, study and show them to the public. The collection, dating between the 17th century and now, extends to some 13,000 pieces of West European clothing, shoes and accessories as well as 17,000 documents. Among all of these, garments donated by maison de couture fashion houses can be found. Pieces from the collection are shown at irregularly timed, themed exhibitions.
