The interior of a palace with gold decoration

Highlights

Masterpieces beloved by Toyotomi Hideyoshi and his wife Nene

A space where you can get to know Nene's personality

This museum, which houses the treasures of Kodaiji Temple, which was built by Nene (aka Kita no Mandokoro and Kodaiin), the consort of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, displays masterpieces from the collections of Kodaiji Temple and its related temples.
The exhibits are centered around the items that Nene left behind at Kodaiji Temple, including the lacquerware furnishings that enriched her life, portraits of people close to her, including Hideyoshi, and their correspondence. These are historically valuable items that convey to us today what Nene loved and what she valued as a woman who lived through a turbulent era as the wife of a man who ruled Japan.
Other items that convey the samurai side of the museum, such as armor and swords, as well as religious items such as Buddhist paintings and scriptures, are also displayed in special themed exhibitions that are held each season.
